Soaking wet bmw-driver.net Trackday
Due to lack of trackdays available Rob(he owns the silver M3 pictured) and myself decided to take it upon ourselves to organise one for the bmw-driver.net forum and invite along our friends from Octane.ie along as well. Numbers were low but we had enough to break even, that was good enough for us as it meant another day to get out cars out for a good run.

Being Ireland the day was wet, it started out soaked from rain in the morning and steady downpour throughout the day meant the track was extremely greasy, the rubber laid down from previous dry running made it all the more treacherous. A few weeks back I got a nail in my front tyre so I took the opportunity to change the fronts to Eagle F1 Asymmetrics, I am planning to run them on the rears as well as soon as I wear down the very uninspiring Falken FK452s currently on the rears.

Went out on my first run and took it easy, it only took a few short corners for me to realise there was absolutely no grip out there. It was loosing traction everywhere and on several corners especially Dunlop the car was breaking loose in the rear with no throttle being applied. I mean I tend to go around a few corners sideways but there was really no choice today and everyone out was hanging their tail out, some more successfully than others. All in all I must have spun at least a couple of times in each of the sessions I was out.
All in all it was a good day, every seemed to have fun and there was no major damage to anyones cars. Grip on the front with the Eagles were great, understeer I can live with but understeer is just annoying. We should be organising another one soon, hopefully next time we will get some dry tarmac to push the cars to the limit.
